Terms of Use
Effective: July 11, 2026
Service Description
Docually provides free, browser-based document scanning tools that detect personally identifiable information (PII) patterns and map findings to regulation clauses. All processing occurs in your browser. No document content is transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Not Legal Advice
Docually is a scanning and reference tool, not a legal service. Regulation clause citations are sourced from published regulation text but do not constitute legal advice, compliance certification, or risk assessment. Scan results do not guarantee that a document is free of PII or compliant with any regulation. Consult qualified legal counsel for compliance decisions specific to your organization and jurisdiction.
Accuracy and Limitations
Docually uses regex-based pattern matching with algorithmic validation. This approach provides high precision for structured PII patterns but cannot detect all forms of identifying information. Unstructured names, contextual identifiers, photographs, biometric data, and non-standard formats may not be detected. We make reasonable efforts to maintain accurate regulation references but do not guarantee completeness or currency.
Limitation of Liability
Docually is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. In no event shall Docually be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the service, including but not limited to damages resulting from undetected PII, incorrect regulation references, or reliance on scan results for compliance purposes.
Intellectual Property
The Docually name, logo, scanner engine, regulation mapping database, and all associated code are the property of docually.com. The regulation text cited in findings is from publicly available regulation sources and is not claimed as proprietary content.
Prohibited Use
- Scraping, crawling, or automated extraction of Docually content, code, or regulation data
- Reverse-engineering the scanner engine for competitive purposes
- Misrepresenting Docually scan results as legal compliance certification
- Using Docually to process documents on behalf of others without their knowledge
- Interfering with or disrupting the service

Changes
We may update these terms periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Docually after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
