Clean Check
Already redacted your document? Paste it here to confirm no personal information slipped through. Pass means clean. Fail shows you exactly what was missed and which regulations apply.
Same 13-pattern engine as the PII Scanner. 100% client-side.
When to Use Clean Check
- Before sharing externally. Run your redacted report through Clean Check before sending to clients, auditors, or regulators.
- After automated redaction. Verify that your redaction tool or script didn't miss edge cases — compound names, alternative date formats, IBANs with spaces.
- During compliance audits. Document that each shared file passed a PII check. Copy the result for your compliance records.
- Quality assurance. Spot-check sanitized datasets before they enter production systems or analytics pipelines.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Clean Check?
Clean Check is a reverse PII scanner. Instead of finding PII for the first time, it validates that a document you've already sanitized is actually clean. Paste your redacted document and get a pass/fail verdict.
How is this different from the PII Scanner?
The PII Scanner is for discovery — finding PII you didn't know was there. Clean Check is for validation — confirming your redaction work was complete. Same engine, different framing: pass/fail instead of a findings report.
What does "PASS" mean?
PASS means Docually's 13 pattern types (SSN, credit card, email, phone, DOB, address, IPv4, IBAN, EIN, passport, Medicare ID, VIN, driver's license) found no matches in your document. It does not guarantee zero PII — unstructured names, custom identifiers, and non-standard formats may not be detected by regex patterns.
What if my document fails?
FAIL means at least one PII pattern was detected. Docually shows you exactly what was found, which regulations apply, and how to redact each finding. Fix the missed items and re-check.
Does PASS guarantee regulatory compliance?
No. Docually checks 13 common PII pattern types but cannot detect all forms of identifying information (photos, biometrics, contextual identifiers, unstructured names). Use Clean Check as one step in your compliance workflow, not as sole certification.
Is my document data safe during the check?
Yes. Clean Check runs entirely in your browser. Your document text never leaves your device — no server, no API call, no upload. Verify in your browser's network inspector.
